Time Management Tip of the Week

Posted by Jillian Malenfant, Total Quality Account Manager

Work with a clean desk.

Keep the clutter before you at a minimum and you will have a more accurate focus on what you need to do to increase your daily productivity.

"Out of sight, out of mind." The reverse of that is true too. When it's in sight, it's in mind and we cannot help but be distracted.

New Search Engine Optimization Service Now Part of NAS Interactive

Posted by Laura McPeck, Director of Total Quality, Business Development

NAS Interactive, a division of NAS Recruitment Communications, today announced the launch of a new Search Engine Optimization (SEO) service that will help clients optimize their career site for better search engine results.

NAS Interactive’s SEO website review helps organizations improve their website visibility on the major search engines, including Google, Yahoo! and MSN Live Search. NAS Interactive’s certified search engine specialists will provide a comprehensive, page-by-page review of the technical design aspects of the site that can impact the site’s marketing success. The SEO review also provides a detailed report of the company’s viability with search engines, a competitive assessment and specific recommendations on how to improve the website’s ranking on Google, Yahoo! and MSN Live Search. This report is used to set a baseline for how the website is currently designed and marketed.

“The SEO review is the first step in creating a comprehensive Internet marketing plan,” said Dave Goebel, Sr. Interactive Marketing Analyst. “The competitive assessment and actionable recommendations we include will assist any organization in exceeding their website goals and drive more talent to their career site.”

Patty Van Leer, SVP of Interactive, noted that “Search engines behave like people. They like websites which contain substantive information about a certain topic, and for HR, that topic is career content. The best sites usually appear first in search engines because people like them and because search engines ‘like them,’ too. Search Engine Optimization does not only generate traffic - it helps to maintain that traffic.”

To find out more about this SEO offering, please contact NAS Interactive Sr. Vice President Patty Van Leer at pvanleer@nasrecruitment.com.

NAS Drives Significant Hiring Victory for Barnes-Jewish Hospital

Posted by Laura McPeck, Director of Total Quality, Business Development

NAS St. Louis, an office of NAS Recruitment Communications and the West Central Region, is proud to announce the recent hire of 178 employees to Barnes-Jewish Hospital. Barnes-Jewish, the flagship academic hospital of BJC HealthCare, recently partnered with NAS in a 100-day hiring and brand recognition effort. Less than halfway through that initiative, the total hiring goal of 200 people is already considerably ahead of schedule.

Led by Sean Bain, Director, NAS St. Louis, the plan kicked off with a review of current communications, resources, and metrics. From there, NAS developed a multi-media solution that introduced Barnes-Jewish to several media choices—including online and offline—some of which had never been used by the hospital before.

“This has been a very exciting time,” said Bain. “I commend my client for their forward thinking and willingness to take on some very new sourcing solutions. These efforts have been rewarding to both our client and the community. Barnes-Jewish Hospital has a wonderful story to tell and some excellent employment opportunities, and NAS is humbled to be a part of that partnership.”

Time Management Tip of the Week!

Posted by Kristen Doescher, Total Quality Account Manager

Don't leave email sitting in your Inbox

"The ability to quickly process and synthesize information and turn it into actions is one of the most emergent skills of the professional world today," says Merlin Mann, editor of the productivity blog 43 Folders. Organize email in file folders. If the message needs more thought, move it to your to-do list. If it's for reference, print it out. If it's a meeting, move it to your calendar.

"One thing young people are really good at is only touching things once. You don't see young people scrolling up and down their email pretending to work," says Mann. Take action on an email as soon as you read it.

NAS Expands Search Engine Marketing Services

Posted by Laura McPeck, Director of Total Quality, Business Development

NAS Interactive, a division of NAS Recruitment Communications, announces the expansion of its online HR recruitment offering with the opening of the new NAS SmartClicks Center. Staffed by Google-certified specialists, the NAS SmartClicks Center will allow clients to tap into powerful search engine marketing strategies that can maximize the return on their recruitment investment.

“Today, more job seekers begin their job search on search engines like Google, Yahoo! and MSN than on the big job boards combined,” said Patty Van Leer, Senior Vice President of NAS’ Interactive Division. “And since recent studies indicate that few searches go beyond the first page of organic search results, strategies that engage candidates early in their search takes on even more importance.”

“Search engine marketing strategies like Pay-Per-Click (PPC) campaigns keep your opportunities visible, especially if your ranking in organic keyword searches is less than desirable,” said Dave Goebel, Sr. Interactive Marketing Analyst. “In addition, NAS SmartClicks Search Engine Marketing campaigns are optimized to bring the right candidate to your career website.”

The SmartClicks Center’s certified specialists handle all aspects of the campaign, from keyword research and bid monitoring, to developing appropriate landing pages or optimizing an existing site to maximize the campaign’s effectiveness. This allows NAS SmartClicks to provide the highest-possible-quality scores at the lowest cost-per-click.

NAS SmartClicks Center manages Google Adwords, Yahoo Search Marketing, and Microsoft AdCenter Search Engine Marketing Campaigns. When combined with Total Source Tracker, these campaigns are powerful ways to both draw and track candidates from initial click to completed application and to reduce your overall advertising spend.

Time Management Tip of the Week!

Posted by Jillian Malenfant, Account Manager

Prioritize your day with the hardest tasks first. Your mind is sharpest in the morning, before the daily tasks begin to wear it out. Therefore, instead of easing yourself into the day (as most people do) tackle your hardest projects first. No matter what your job or assignment, when you can get the hardest tasks done and out of the way, you are able to think more clearly the rest of the day.

Healthy Year for NAS Healthcare Creative Awards

Posted by Laura McPeck, Director of Total Quality, Business Development

NAS Recruitment Communications is proud to announce that it was a banner year for creative awards for its healthcare clients. Over 150 honors from national and international competitions—over 33% of NAS’ total awards—were earned, reinforcing NAS’ strong presence in the specialized field of healthcare talent acquisition.

Among the accolades were a Best in Show (for U.S. Army Healthcare), 10 Gold and eight Silver Awards given by the Healthcare Marketing Report; and eight Gold (including Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, Children’s Hospital Boston and John Knox Village), 11 Silver and nine Judges’ Choice in the ASTER competition. Creative work for U.S. Army Healthcare also took nine Merit and Bronze honors at the prestigious SIAA awards. Other NAS healthcare clients recognized in various competitions include HCR Manor Care, HealthEast Care System, Mayo Clinic and University of Maryland Medical Center.

Regional Vice Presidents, Judy Wilson and Tara Repucci, were quoted as saying, “Every client has a story to tell and with our creative teams, we try to tell that story. The achievement comes when NAS has met (exceeded) their expectations; when the best talent was hired due to the message, the artwork, the right placement of media. The added excitement comes when a successful concept or campaign receives recognition by professional peers. Many people are involved in the awards received at NAS; however, none of these would be possible without our customers. We are proud of these partnerships.”

Industry Expert Offers Unique View for Recruiting Top Talent

Posted by Emily Hargrave, Total Quality Account Manager

Cleveland, OH (PRWEB) MARCH 05, 2009 – NAS Recruitment Communications announced today that Matt Kaiser, Vice President and Talent Strategist, will offer a thought-provoking seminar on understanding the recruitment process from the candidate’s point of view to the Denver Area Health Care Recruiters Association (http://www.dahcra.org/) on Tuesday, March 10, 2009.

Kaiser will present “Improving the Candidate Experience: Can You Put Yourself in Their Shoes?” a stimulating view of how an organization may be perceived by the people it hopes to attract and eventually hire. The program will address the meaning behind the candidate experience, how to measure it and how to effectively improve the experience to attract, engage and retain the best talent. Attendees will be given tools to help measure the candidate experience and identify strategies to enhance candidate touch points.

“The economy, new technology and changing demographics are among the factors affecting an A-level candidate’s decision on which organization to choose,” said Kaiser. “It’s important to look at the candidate experience and see your organization through their eyes. Understanding the thought processes of your talent target is no easy matter, but it is a critical component of successful recruiting efforts.”

Kaiser is a recruitment strategy consultant with over 12 years of professional experience with Fortune 100 and 500 clients in a variety of industries. He is an author and experienced keynote speaker and will continue to offer insight on best practices in talent management at regional and national conferences in 2009.

Wall Street Journal Article: Multimedia Formula Makes Alloy a Teen Magnet

Many of you have used Alloy Media + Marketing's unmatched platforms to get your recruitment messages into the minds of teens and college students. NAS is pleased to announce that on Friday, February 27, 2009, Alloy was featured prominently in the Wall Street Journal as a source of expertise in the youth advertising market, especially in the online domain.

As the article points out, both print and digital mediums aimed at teenagers have seen scale backs across the board due to the economic climate. Despite this, Alloy has continued to lead the field in creating new and exciting ways to target the youth market. Alloy has established a reputation for being “savvy in connecting with young people,” says the WSJ.

No better time to start a Talent Network

Posted by Kate Wardwell, Director, Business Development

We're all reading the headlines: mass layoffs, hiring freezes, the growing number of unemployed... It's depressing to think about the displaced talent on the job market right now. At some point, hopefully sooner rather than later, the economy will improve and employers will once again fight for the best and brightest candidates.

Until then, those employers who focus on cultivating relationships with A-level talent will be uniquely positioned for success when the economy picks up and competition for talent ensues. Although companies may not be hiring right now, the forward-thinking ones are capturing candidate contact information and keeping in touch via talent networks.

Today's ERE article, "Corporate Alumni and Boomerang Recruiting Programs are Hot Due to Layoffs," discusses the benefits of a talent network for re-recruiting former employees:

http://www.ere.net/2009/03/02/corporate-alumni-and-boomerang-recruiting-programs-are-hot-due-to-layoffs/

At NAS, we work with our clients to create talent networks for former employees but also to capture active and passive job seekers from a variety of sources (i.e. career site visitors, job fair attendees, networking events). And there is truly no better time than right now to start a talent network.

Time Management Tip of the Week!

Posted by Kristen Doescher, Account Manager

According to the Mayo Clinic's tips to reduce stress and improve productivity, you can improve your time management and productivity by taking a break when needed.

Too much stress can derail your attempts at getting organized. When you need a break, take one. Take a walk around the block. Do some quick stretches at your workstation or desk. Take a day of vacation to rest and re-energize. No matter what you do, you will come back feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the difficult tasks on your to-do list.
