Betting on Search Engine Marketing for Better Talent

Posted by Laura McPeck, Director of Total Quality, Business Development

From cities to casinos, more employers are utilizing SEM for visibility and results

Cincinnati, OH (PRWEB) September 24, 2009 – In today’s tough economy, restrictions on recruitment budgets mean more organizations are looking to strategies that really perform. According to NAS Recruitment Communications, it’s why such a wide variety of organizations have turned to search engine marketing strategies as a means of maximizing their recruitment budgets.

“Our clients are quickly finding success in strategies like Pay-Per-Click (PPC) campaigns,” says Amy Walsman, Director of Business Development in Cincinnati, Ohio. “Clients such as Frisch’s, Belterra Resort & Casino, and even the City of Cincinnati are among the latest companies that are diving into this kind of medium to find the quality candidates they need. Clients like the fact that PPC campaigns are flexible and can work within any budget.”

“Plus, search engine marketing strategies like PPC campaigns are among the most measurable forms of marketing. Belterra Casino & Resorts, for example, has an SEM campaign that continues to see positive growth month after month. Their number of impressions continues to decrease, while the number of clicks continues to improve – thus Belterra is spending less money to generate the same number, or more, of responses than they had in the previous months.”

NAS manages Google Adwords, Yahoo! Search Marketing, and Microsoft AdCenter Search Engine Marketing Campaigns. Its dedicated SmartClicks Center for search engine marketing is manned by certified specialists who handle all aspects of the campaign. This allows NAS SmartClicks to provide the highest possible quality scores at the lowest cost-per-click.
“Search engine marketing strategies not only keep opportunities visible, but also drive top-of-mind brand awareness and help position an organization as an employer of choice in their industry,” says Walsman.

Career Sites To Get Chunk of HR Budget in 2010

Posted by Laura McPeck, Director of Total Quality, Business Development

Study reports boosting digital recruitment on many company’s “to-do” lists

Cleveland, OH (PRWEB) September 14, 2009 – Next year, your HR budget will likely include a major investment in digital recruitment enhancements—centered specifically on your company’s career site. According to NAS Interactive, a division of NAS Recruitment Communications, recent studies are pointing to the career site as the one recruitment investment with the biggest return in 2010.

“As the recent economic downturn wanes, we’re seeing more companies focus on recruitment investments that can maximize their ROI in the long term,” says Caroline Slomski, Interactive Marketing Strategist for NAS. “Next year’s budget will most likely include tools and metrics that can help HR organizations make smart decision on where they should advertise, and—more importantly—vehicles that can help them can market their opportunities more effectively. The career site is on the top of the list.”

According to Staffing.org’s Recruiting Metrics & Performance Benchmark Report 2009, job seekers consider information from the company’s career site—information that highlights the employee value proposition such as testimonials from current employees—as the most influential to their career decision.

The study also projects that the number of career sites will more than double from 2008 to 2012.

“It is the single most important place an organization can invest,” says Slomski. “But before you enter into the planning stage for your site expansion, you need to understand how candidates are interacting with your current site so that you know what your audience is consuming and what it is rejecting.

“The right performance metrics can help guide your expansion decisions, to get more success from online banner or search engine marketing campaigns, and validate search engine optimization investments.”

Kaiser: Challenging Economy Requires New Recruitment Mindset.

NAS expert articulated strategies at AZ SHRM meeting.

Cleveland, OH (PRWEB) September 11, 2009 – Hiring freezes… Budget cuts… Human Resources professionals are facing a wide range of unique demands in the current economy. At the recent Arizona SHRM State Conference in Phoenix, Matt Kaiser, NAS Recruitment Communications Vice President and Talent Strategist, suggested this is the time organizations should be proactive in attracting quality talent.

In an informative and interactive seminar entitled “The Time is Now: Best Practices for Recruiting in a Challenging Environment,” Kaiser provided insight into tactics companies can use to entice prime candidates to respond to their culture and opportunities.

“With the shift in the market, the recruitment landscape has grown increasingly more difficult, and leadership is questioning the need for new recruitment strategies,” he said. “Many organizations are hiding from candidates during these tough economic times, but right now is the ideal time to attract them.”

Kaiser went on to say, “Building brand identity and candidate relationships during slower economic times will position a company at the forefront of their industry in the minds of top talent. And when the economy does start to improve, that company will be far ahead of the competition in the war for talent.”

Niche Site Creates Positive Outcome for St. John West Shore Hospital

Posted by Laura McPeck, Director of Total Quality, Business Development

Banners and radio prove to be effective support options.

Cleveland, OH (PRWEB) September 8, 2009 – In urgent need of hiring experienced RNs, St. John West Shore Hospital (SJWS) in Cleveland, Ohio, turned to NAS Recruitment Communications to develop an exciting new branding campaign to launch in coordination with an open house to meet its recruitment needs.

To attract the attention of practiced RNs, NAS created an employment brand for SJWS that used photos of employees in real-life scenarios of the daily work at the hospital. It also utilized a multi-pronged media advertising approach, which utilized online components. A rich-media corner-peel ad - where one corner of the Web page expands to cover the screen upon mouse-over - was created on the homepage of Cleveland.com, the area’s local website. When job seekers clicked on the ad, they were directed to a splash page that displayed pertinent information about the open house and SJWS’ Web address, where potential candidates could apply online if they were unable to attend. A banner was developed to run on a local news website called MomsLikeMe.com, targeting the targeted female demographic. In addition, NAS created a succinct ten-second radio commercial that aired two weeks prior to the open house event.

NAS successfully measured activity from the corner-peel ad on Cleveland.com, based on the number of click-throughs. Results showed that the ad produced high-volume traffic and was a crucial component to the strong campaign. Sixty-five RNs attended the event and 21 interviews were scheduled. SJWS has already hired six RNs from the open house and continue to interview.

According to Jeanne Gregg, Employment Coordinator for SJWS, the event “…was terrific! We had a huge turnout and lots of fun! NAS was a valuable partner in the process.”

NAS to Reveal Metric and SEO Secrets that can Boost Recruiting ROI

Webinar will teach tools and techniques to guide sourcing decisions

Cleveland, OH (PRWEB) August 31, 2009 – NAS Interactive, a division of NAS Recruitment Communications, will present “Making Your Career Site Work for You: Let Metrics Guide Your Sourcing Strategy,” a special webinar to be hosted Wednesday, September 16th at 2:00 p.m. EST.

Caroline Slomski, Interactive Marketing Strategist, and Kevin Hawkins, National Internet Strategist for NAS, will co-host the hour-long presentation. Those attending the session will learn how many HR organizations are already successfully combining powerful new metric tools—tools that can map candidate activity through to application—with SEO techniques to increase their return on media investment and drive more qualified candidates to apply. All at a fraction of what most companies invest in print ads and online postings.

“Until recently, HR organizations relied heavily on media feedback and candidate self-sourcing tools to guide their sourcing decisions,” said Slomski. “However, most media metrics only report the number of clicks, impressions and other means of measuring initial engagement. And candidate self-sourcing—asking candidates to identify what source drove them to the application on a form within the ATS—offers organizations unreliable information at best. Our metrics can track through to the ATS, giving our clients a far more reliable method of source tracking than media feedback or an aided drop-down box.

“Tools like our Total Source Tracker help clients find out if the media sources they are paying for are converting the highest number of completed applications, or if there are other sources—like job aggregators or search engine traffic—that are giving them better results. If so, knowing how to optimize your site to take advantage of this traffic can help you maximize your ROI.”

NAS Event Helps Entertainment Giant with Talent Search Techniques.

Cleveland, OH (PRWEB) August 6, 2009 – NAS Recruitment Communications recently hosted an Interactive Day with HMV, one of Canada’s largest retailers of music and games. The goal was to analyze HMV’s current online posting strategies and provide a fresh approach that would result in quality talent acquisition.

The one-day session, involving select job boards in Canada plus personnel from NAS and HMV, provided an opportunity to meet a wide range of interactive providers and learn more about their product offerings, effectiveness and geographical strengths. The invitation prompted interactive providers to think outside the box and offer solutions appropriate to HMV’s unique recruitment needs and challenges. This proactive and structured approach also allowed NAS to make recommendations based on recruitment best practices and lend its expertise with contract negotiations.

“In a tight economy and in an evolving recruitment landscape, it is necessary to help our clients identify online products and services that work around their budgets, while providing them with the best return on investment,” said Franz Yap, Director of Business Development for NAS Toronto. “With so many innovative online products and services out there, it is important for us to partner with our clients and help them understand which sites best address their recruitment needs and challenges. Smart HR Organizations Investing in More Comprehensive Tools for Measuring ROI

Posted by Laura McPeck, Director of Total Quality, Business Development

Media source tracking pinpoints effective channels for applicants.

Cleveland, OH (PRWEB) August 3, 2009 – To maximize recruitment budgets during the economic downturn, many HR organizations are investing in better media tracking methods to help pinpoint the most effective media channels for specific job families, according to NAS Interactive, a division of NAS Recruitment Communications.

“The word is getting around as HR organizations that use tools such as our Total Source Tracker are able to identify what sources drive the highest volume of applicants,” says Caroline Slomski, Interactive Marketing Strategist for NAS.

NAS’ Total Source Tracker allows HR organization to measure media effectiveness by position advertised or job title, “tracking” a candidate’s response to a given media through to completed application—drilling deeper than typical media measurement sources or methods that require applicants to select from a drop down list of media within the applicant tracking system.

Millions of job seekers use the Internet every day to look for jobs so, on the surface it would seem a job board would be the ideal place for job postings. Most HR organizations rely on job board reports to measure effectiveness. These reports provide a good snapshot of activity, but fail to measure real results—completed applications in the ATS.

“What Total Source Tracker gives organizations is the opportunity to make informed decisions based on the actual results of the media buys—the follow through—rather than basing decisions on the candidate’s initial response,” says Patty Van Leer, Senior Vice President of Interactive. “It helps HR make informed decisions on how to buy more effectively, shift dollars to channels that are outperforming others, use media sources that can help them reach their intended audience rather than post every job to the same sites.

“Choosing the right channel to attract the right candidates is essential, but next to impossible if you don't have the tracking in place to measure response on each channel —online AND offline,” adds Slomski.

“Media trends change quickly and social networking is playing more of a role in how HR sources candidates. Total Source Tracker enables organizations to react to changes in the landscape as they occur, and modify their media plans to reach specific positions and to validate their return on investment.”

“These are the organizations that will have a real advantage on the competition for talent when the economy turns around.”

NAS Talent Strategist Provides Vital Market Analysis for Texas Healthcare Clients.

Posted by Laura McPeck, Director of Total Quality, Business Development

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) July 27, 2009 – Kristine Rhodes, Dallas-based Talent Strategist for NAS Recruitment Communications, announced today that recently added metrics tools are helping HR healthcare clients attract the best from a select talent pool.

“NAS Insights’ new online healthcare metrics tool,” Rhodes said, “gives us an additional set of critical data that pinpoints a specific audience. These customized reports are the foundation of a successful recruitment and retention program.”

According to Rhodes, developing a strategic workforce planning initiative requires many building blocks.

“We create healthcare hotsheets for our clients,” Rhodes said. “These monthly reports provide the market analysis that gives them an edge over their competition and helps them make informed decisions. A demographic profile with information about the area’s population, median age, education levels, and unemployment rate can determine the probability of persuading a candidate to relocate and, consequently, whether or not a segment of the budget should be earmarked for national advertising. A report such as the Texas RN Workforce profile provides specifics about the area’s current workforce, including the fact that, by 2020, the demand for RNs in Texas is expected to grow 86%, while the supply will grow only 53%.”

Successful SHRM Presentation Sets Off Industry Buzz- NAS provides recruitment expertise for a changing economy.

Posted by Emily Hargrave, Total Quality Account Manager

Cleveland, OH (PRWEB) July 23, 2009 –The City of New Orleans provided an appropriate backdrop for the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) Annual Conference in June, where recruitment professionals sought new ways to thrive in an economy that has been termed a “second Katrina.”

Providing a note of optimism, with a healthy dose of pragmatic insight, was Matthew Adam, Vice President and Chief Talent Strategist with NAS Recruitment Communications, a premier name in talent acquisition solutions. Over 200 conference attendees came to hear techniques to developing intuitive websites that successfully connect with quality candidates. Response to “Your Website Can Be Your #1 Recruiting Tool” has been overwhelmingly positive.
Said one blogger on RecruitingBlogs.com, “In the hour-long session, Matt provided a good framework for companies looking to develop or enhance their Careers site, as well as showed several good examples of companies currently doing it right.” The comments went on to say, “He [Matt] kicked off the meeting with four Website Truths: It’s all about the candidate experience. Secure your .jobs domain name. Use microsites to create a targeted and engaging experience for candidates. Capture the metrics.”

During an interview with Total Picture Radio’s Peter Clayton, Adam further explained the importance of looking at your website from the candidate’s viewpoint. “Nowadays, A-level candidate carefully managing his or her career is visiting your website and making assumptions about your organization based on what they find. Unfortunately, many websites are not designed with the candidate experience in mind and fail to engage talent.” A podcast of the entire interview may be found at http://www.totalpicture.com/shows/recruiting/matthew-adam-shrm-podcast.html.

Adam is a recruitment strategy consultant with over 14 years of professional experience with both Fortune 500 companies and start-ups. An author and experienced keynote speaker, he will continue to offer his insight at regional and national conferences throughout 2009.

Recession has HR Organizations Playing “Catch-up” with Candidates

Polls Show Job Seekers Adopting Alternative Search Methods Quicker than HR.

Cleveland, OH (PRWEB) July 20, 2009 –

While HR organizations have dramatically scaled back their recruiting in the economic downturn, many have learned they must embrace new recruiting habits now if they want to attract top candidates before the inevitable turnaround, according to NAS Interactive, a division of NAS Recruitment Communications.

At a recent learning event for HR professionals co-hosted by NAS and job aggregator SimplyHired, attendees were polled about their current hiring practices. Over 80% still relied primarily on the major job boards for posting job openings.

However, the habits of job seekers have dramatically changed. Studies by digital measurement giant comScore has found that 60% of all job searches today are being conducted through search engines and job aggregators, versus a total of 40% on the big three boards—CareerBuilder, Monster and Yahoo!—combined.

“Most HR professionals recognize how quickly the digital landscape is changing, and that they need to continually put new practices into play to attract top talent,” said Caroline Slomski, NAS Interactive Marketing Strategist. “It’s why our Social Networking Boot Camps and interactive media webinars prove so popular. But we don’t want clients to just follow the trends. We encourage our clients to put the kind of analytics in place that will help them understand what is working and what is not. Where are your candidates coming from today, versus six months ago? Which channels—both paid and unpaid—are bringing in the most completed applications? And how can you adjust your strategy so you can maximize your ROI?”

“There are so many opinions out there on what’s working and what’s not,” said NAS Vice President of Development Stephan Kruger. “That’s why every organization needs real data that tracks what media their candidates are attracted to, and how they respond with the employment message. It lets you react to changes in the landscape as they occur, so you’re always in the driver’s seat.”

NAS Interactives analytics tools, such as Total Source Tracker, can help organizations track candidates from all media - from initial click to completed application - so they can measure media efficiency and reduce overall advertising spend.

Targeted, brand-focused microsite attracts students to Freddie Mac.

Posted by Laura McPeck, Director of Total Quality, Business Development

Campus recruitment plan gets interactive boost.

Baltimore, MD (PRWEB) July 16, 2009 – With the assistance of NAS Recruitment Communications, Freddie Mac has expanded its campus recruitment efforts by implementing a more targeted and effective strategy, focused on its campus microsite.

NAS significantly enhanced Freddie Mac’s campus microsite (freddiemaccampus.jobs), turning existing static, text-heavy pages into pages with dynamic graphics, good use of white space and Flash elements. The consistent message – “You want a career with impact” – drives home the fact that Freddie Mac employees not only experience a rewarding career, they also help restore a healthy economy.

According to Susan Snyder, Freddie Mac’s Advertising Manager, the results were impressive. “The campus microsite gave us greater recognition and a distinctive identity,” Susan commented. “We immediately had a considerable increase in qualified candidate traffic. Within the first week of launch, we had over 55% positive feedback. And students are spending longer amounts of time searching for information on the site.”

“Attracting college hires is crucial to our business areas,” said Stephanie Roemer, Freddie Mac’s Campus Relations Manager. “We recently invited over 200 students to visit our headquarters and participate in interviews – and we made job offers to selected candidates. The quality and volume of students we were able to screen in advance on the microsite added significantly to the success of the event.”

The campus microsite includes an events calendar with individualized university RSVP pages, which allows Freddie Mac to gauge event attendance. NAS also created a new candidate database to track applicants. “This helps Freddie Mac cross-reference resumes with jobs, maintain dialogue with students and prepare for upcoming campus events,” said Jennifer Henley, NAS Business Development Director. “It’s important in any campus effort to sustain an ongoing relationship with students.”

NAS Believes in the Recruitment Power of Video

Posted by Laura McPeck, Director of Total Quality, Business Development

“Moving images tell the story of Motion Picture & Television Fund.”

Cleveland, OH (PRWEB) July 9, 2009 –NAS Recruitment Communications announced the recent release of an innovative streaming video, spotlighting the facility and career opportunities at Los Angeles client, Motion Picture & Television Fund.

Under the theme, “We take care of our own,” the video begins in sepia evoking Hollywood and its silver screen heritage. It then proceeds to weave a special tale of care and compassion at this premier healthcare network serving members of the movie and television industry. Breathtaking shots of sumptuously landscaped grounds and scenes of cheerful patients and residents give career candidates a rare insight into this unique employment experience.

Jan Zlotowicz, Vice President of Human Resources at Motion Picture & Television Fund stated, “It is wonderful to have a recruitment video that so beautifully expresses the warmth and compassion that is a large part of the MPTF organization.”

“In this era of YouTube, digital video is an essential part of any effective Web 2.0 strategy,” said Greg Rousseau, NAS Vice President/Southwestern Region.

“Besides,” added Rousseau, “what could be more appropriate for a client like Motion Picture than to convey the dramatic and heartfelt qualities of its organization than through the power of the moving image.”

NAS Social Networking Boot Camp Gets HR Shops in Shape to Recruit in New Web 2.0 Environments

Posted by Emily Hargrave, Total Quality Account Manager

Cleveland, OH (PRWEB) July 6, 2009 – HR professionals from dozens of organizations have recently learned how quickly and easily they can connect with candidates on social media networks like Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn through NAS Interactive’s new Social Networking Boot Camp.

NAS Interactive, a division of NAS Recruitment, began offering its Social Networking Boot Camp to help client organizations incorporate social networks into sourcing strategies, and how to use them efficiently. Since the Boot Camp’s introduction, many organizations have taken advantage of the program via onsite presentations and webinars, and the results have been remarkable.

“Many of our customers thought that introducing social networking would require a significant time investment—one that would be hard to realistically maintain,” said NAS Interactive Marketing Strategist Caroline Slomski. “Social networks are too important to ignore when implementing a sourcing strategy. That’s why we introduce participants to tools that can be incorporated into their everyday communication channels—like email—so recruiters can interact with their social networks without a major time commitment or project interruption.”

According to Linda Novak, Director of HR Development for West Penn Allegheny Health System (WPAHS), the onsite format is ideal for bringing new social network users up to speed. “Our novice social media recruiters were able to set up their LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter accounts,” Novak said. “Others who already had accounts learned better and more effective methods to use social media for recruiting. There was something for everyone. In addition, Caroline oriented all staff members to the vast array of tools available and made specific recommendations to enhance recruitment at individual hospitals as well as the health system overall.”

Treva Spencer-Dupree, Supervisor of Recruiting and Onboarding for United Water whose recruiting organization took advantage of the program via webinar concurred. I thought the Boot Camp was thorough and very informative. As a utility that is looking to be on the forefront of technology, the camp gave insight to communications and company awareness presented to the masses via the web, she said. To learn more about NAS Social Networking Boot Camp and its entire line of digital recruitment solutions, please contact Caroline Slomski at cslomski@nasrecruitment.com.

Hospital Market Analysis Provided by NAS is Critical to Talent Acquisition
High-demand employment field requires specialized expertise.

Cleveland, OH (PRWEB) July 2, 2009 – In today’s economy, one area of growth continues to be healthcare, a field that has its own unique challenges in finding qualified candidates. NAS Insights, the centralized research operation at NAS Recruitment Communications, is an industry leader in providing vital hospital market analysis that helps clients pinpoint hard-to-recruit healthcare talent.

Medical, nursing and allied health openings have very specific qualifications and target applicant pools. By drawing upon the latest U.S. hospital data available from the American Hospital Association, NAS Insights can pinpoint hospitals by geographic location, facility type, services and number of beds, information important for locating targeted positions and candidates. For example, when recruiting for a registered Polysomnographic Technologist in Chicago, NAS Insights can offer a targeted approach by identifying hospitals in the area that have sleep centers.

“Because searching for healthcare talent requires skill-specific recruitment, it is essential for our clients to be thoroughly familiar with the healthcare labor market, including their competition,” said Tracy Wharton, Director of NAS Insights. “ “NAS Insights is able to offer our clients critical data on over 6,500 hospitals across the nation. Keeping on top of changing employment needs and opportunities is so important in today’s marketplace.”

Keep your Business on the Move with Compelling Transit Ads.

Big, splashy messages attract attention. And since transit advertising is less costly than any other media, it is quickly engaging the ad budget dollars of financially-savvy companies in every industry.

With transit ads, your message is most likely performing for a captive audience. Commuters sitting in rush-hour traffic are exposed to the same billboards five days a week. Retail customers stand and wait as messages trail along the bottom of the cash-register price-point readout. Public transportation riders read the same posters on the bus shelter and inside the bus over and over and over again.

NAS and SimplyHired to Offer Tips for Maximizing Draw from Job Aggregators

Posted by Laura McPeck, Director of Total Quality, Business Development

Webinar will teach strategies that help you compete for talent on today’s hot job sites.

Cleveland, OH (PRWEB) June 22, 2009 –NAS Interactive, a division of NAS Recruitment Communications, announced that it will team up with SimplyHired to present “Maximize Your Candidate Engagement through Job Aggregators,” a special webinar to be hosted Tuesday, July 7th at 2:00 p.m. EST.

Caroline Slomski, National Internet Strategist for NAS, and Felicia Jamin, Manager of Agency Relations for SimplyHired, will co-host the hour-long presentation. Attendees will learn how HR organizations can maximize the power of job-centric search engines and the strategies that can put their jobs in front of candidates more efficiently and economically.

“Online activity trends among job seekers are rapidly changing. More and more, they’re turning to job aggregators like SimplyHired because of its ability to streamline the job search process,” said Slomski. “Knowing how to position your jobs to be seen on these sites through strategies like pay-per-click is imperative for organizations today.”

Aggregators collect job postings from databases across the Web, including employer websites, traditional job boards like Monster and CareerBuilder, and others. For candidates, aggregators offer seekers the chance to see positions from multiple organizations and sources served up at a single site. NAS has found that job aggregators provide significant traffic to client career sites and can be an essential component to companies’ recruitment marketing strategy. Webinar participants will learn strategies that can help them improve their rankings and provide cost-effective results.

“Organizations are searching for innovative advertising options that are measurable and extremely cost-effective,” Slomski remarked, “and they’ll find it in search engine strategies like the ones we will present. These are strategies that will be recruitment staples in years to come, and organizations that want to be competitive when the economy rebounds need to get on board now.”
