Posted by Laura McPeck, Director, Business Development

This report provides an overview of the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ latest labor force projections from 2006 to 2016. The Bureau revises its labor force projections every two years and develops its projections using a complex series of economic models that relate economic theory and behavior to the labor market and other economic data. Specific assumptions are also incorporated concerning the level of unemployment, exports and imports, consumer spending, and other economic variables.

The Bureau’s projections cover trends in the economy, the demographic makeup of the labor force and employment growth in more than 820 occupations in over 1,100 industries. This report highlights some of the most significant projected changes in the healthcare field. It is divided into two sections. The first part is an overview of employment in the healthcare services industry. The second section describes occupational trends in health care.
